Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic Dentistry

A confident smile is important for us all and cosmetic dentistry can address visible issues that make us self-conscious like stained, chipped and gapped teeth. Cosmetic Dentistry refers to dental treatments that improve the appearance of a patient’s teeth, gums, bite or smile. It primarily focuses on improvement in colour, position, shape, size, alignment and overall smile appearance. There a number of different treatments but not all of these treatments are best suited to all patients. At Kincaid Dental centre our Dentist will be able to advise the most suitable options based on your current concerns, desired outcomes and budget.

Crowns

When a tooth is cracked, decayed or damaged, a crown may need to be fitted to protect and preserve the remaining natural tooth. A crown is a definitive covering that fits over the original tooth and address aesthetic needs, restores tooth function and enhances the overall health of your mouth. Crowns can be made of tooth coloured porcelain.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin shells of ceramic tooth coloured material, which are bonded to the front of your teeth to change their shape, size, alignment, or colour. This procedure requires little or no anaesthesia and can be the ideal choice for improving the appearance of the front teeth. Porcelain veneers look completely natural and can be used to correct the following:

  • Gaps between teeth
  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Unsightly, stained or washed-out fillings
  • Permanently stained or discoloured teeth that can't be bleached
  • Crooked teeth
  • Porcelain veneers can be bonded to just one or two teeth to correct specific problems, or they can be used on all your teeth to give you a dazzling smile.

    Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments in Australia. It is a safe and effective method to significantly alter the appearance of your teeth to give you a brighter, whiter smile. Teeth may become discoloured due to surface staining caused by tea, coffee, tobacco or wine. Teeth may also discolour after root canal therapy, trauma or the placement of dental braces. At Kincaid Medical and Dental Centre we offer take home whitening kits. Before you have your teeth whitened, we strongly recommend you schedule an appointment for a Consultation. Your consultation will enable us to advise you on the most suitable tooth whitening treatment for your teeth, and the results that can be expected when whitening your teeth. The effectiveness and final result will vary for each individual, and it is essential that your teeth are properly assessed to give you the whitest result possible

    FastBraces

Fastbraces® Technology is fast, safe, easy and affordable treatment to straighten teeth fast. Fastbraces® is a modern technology that was designed to straighten teeth in a different way. If your bone responds well to the Fastbraces® technology, you can usually get your braces off quickly – in about 20 weeks or so! This is in contrast to traditional braces where the average treatment is usually at least two years. For most people a beautiful smile is the most obvious benefit of orthodontics. After your braces come off, you will feel more self-confident. During your treatment, we want you to feel as comfortable as possible and get you through the process in as little time as possible. If you think Fastbraces® may be the best braces option for you or your loved one, a Fastbraces® consultation is the best place to start.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

    1How do Fastbraces® work?
Traditional braces move teeth into position in two stages, usually over a period of about two years. In the first year, the crown of the tooth is moved into alignment. In the second year, treatment addresses the position of the root of the tooth. However, the brackets used with Fastbraces® work on a different mechanical principle altogether. The patented system uses an innovative triangular bracket and a specially- shaped square wire to correct the position of the root of the tooth, from the beginning of treatment. This combination is key in realigning the root and crown simultaneously.
2How long is the treatment time?
Fastbraces® Technology gently allows for movement of the roots of the teeth towards their final position from the onset of treatment, achieving root parallelism at the beginning stages, thus completing treatment from 3 months to about a year. Some patients see results in just weeks!
    3Do I have to wear a Retainer?
At your last appointment when having your Fastbraces® removed the dentist will fit you with a retainer. This retainer will sit behind your teeth and is fixed in place using a filling material. This process is used as with the complete alignment of the roots of the teeth, retention is needed to maintain alignment.
4How can you decide if you are a good candidate for Fastbraces®?
Would you like a straighter, more beautiful smile? Would you like that beautiful smile in a few short months instead of years? Would you like to experience less discomfort? Would you like to pay less for your orthodontic treatment? If you answered ‘Yes’ to any of these questions, then CONGRATULATIONS, you could be a great candidate for Fastbraces®!
5What are the advantages of Fastbraces®?
Fast! Treatment times range from 3 months to about a year Fastbraces® Technology typically works with just one orthodontic wire from start to finish, whereas traditional braces usually require a series of wires and tightening procedures. Fastbraces® Technology uses a special square super-elastic nickel-titanium wire which is activated by the special design of the braces. This dynamic wire helps upright the whole tooth using the natural temperature of the mouth in just one stage. Now treatment time can be measured in months instead of years! Affordable Fastbraces® Technology is very affordable in most cases because treatment typically takes just a few visits. Less dentist visits mean less money spent, less fuel used getting to and from the doctor’s office and less time off school or work. Pain reduction Advances in technology are rapidly changing the way braces straighten teeth, the length of time it takes, the cost, and the comfort level. Research has shown lower sensitivity from greater pain reduction with the bracket system of Fastbraces® Technology but all patients feel and experience different things.
